Calda Pizza
I am a pizza lover and my love for this is my drive to scout for the flavor, style and affordability where ever I go. In one of my search, I came across this giant pizza that gave me the change to taste Italian style at an affordable price. It is Calda Pizza. I was brought by my friend Michael Forsuelo to this wonderful place at it was indeed a satisfying experience. We ordered Calda Special. It was delicious and yet very affordable.

Preparing the Pizza
You can even see it being prepared while you wait. The generous topping and super thin crust really made this pizza special. It was a delightful pizza experience in every bite. You can even ask then to have two flavors in on pizza.

Calda 36 inches Pizza
We came across a family that ordered for the largest pizza that is 36”. They let me take a picture of their feast because they saw me amazed when the largest pizza was served.

The concept was very simple, order a pizza, pay for it, they will prepare it with you seeing it, and serve it to you straight from the oven.

When I went to my home, I was glad that they also have a branch in Antipolo city. We tried the 20” pepperoni and it was again finish in one sitting. Calda Pizza is one pizza store that satisfy your crave for a great pizza without spending that much.

I experience it at Calda Pizza Capitol Drive, Butuan City and Calda Pizza, Licos Park, Circumferential road, Antipolo City. Don’t miss this opportunity to taste a great thin crust pizza by Calda Pizza. It’s worth the taste and price.

Cebu

It’s been a while since I went back to Cebu and this time, I told myself that I will go to a place where I always wanted to. Why? Because I was told by my friend that it was a haven to have a good drink, a cool sound and a wonderful thin crust pizza. Although I am familiar with Handuraw which I made a blog entry a few years ago, my friend Lucio told me to try their Gorordo branch.

It was indeed very nice. The ambiance was different. It has a signature of its own. It gives you a feeling like you are in a bar that you see in the TV commercials. I hope other will feel the same. Just like what I felt, parang Artista. Hehehe!!! I was told that this is frequented by artist and the like. I guess its niche also contributes to its ambiance. Cool people and young professionals.

We started with the nachos and a few bottles of beer. I tried it with Cerveza Negra and it was a perfect match. As you can see, my Cerveza was ice cold.

It was also my first time to meet one of the owner and I was also pleased that they appreciated my first blog entry about Handuraw Pizza. It was indeed a very good chance for me to have another visit to their place. In fact, I always frequented they Mango branch and the one in Katipunan at Quezon city ( now along Xavierville Avenue). I never failed to get appreciation to those who I referred to try their pizza.

Thanks you Eric for accommodating us and for the wonderful Handuraw’s Special. It never failed my expectation. Your thin crust pizza always rings a bell every time I crave for a good pizza. I will certainly visit your new branches in Eastwood and if I have a change, I will also visit your Merville branch in Paranaque. Just let me know if it is open already so I can refer my friends near there. Cheers and kudos to Handuraw Pizza.

We Filipinos are also excellent pasta and pizza lovers even though it did not originate in our place. This is the same reason why my urges for pasta and pizza are always there. In Antipolo City, there is this special place that satisfied my craving. It is Qizia Café. They serve pasta, pizza, cakes, coffee and many more. This was referred to us by some parents in KCLC. My favorite was Pasta Aribbata. The spiciness and texture of the pasta made this special. It was like eating at a very expensive Italian restaurant inexpensively.

My daughter preferred Carbonara in Fettuccini since she like white sauce. It I also tasted good and the servicing is more than enough for one person. For our pizza, we chose four cheese pizza. It goes very well with the pasta and is the favorite of my kids since they don’t like pizza with the toppings. They prefer cheese only.

I was so amazed of the taste and price that Qizia café have that I decided to taste they clubhouse sandwich. It was also good but I prefer the pasta Aribbata better. I guess because my craving was really for the pasta and not for the sandwich.

Well, it was a good and hearty meal that my family just had and it is very near our place in Antipolo. What made it more exciting, their prices was very affordable.

Front fo Qizia Cafe
Qizia Café is located along L. Sumulong Memorial Road right just before Petron Station if you are coming from Rizal Provincial Capitol. Their first branch was in Marikina City. It was indeed a fat Sunday evening of dining and eating at Qizia Café. Definitely, we will be coming back for more.

Bohol
Everytime we were beside the beach, we were accustomed to eat seafoods, rice and a fresh fruit juice but sometimes, your normal craving for city food must also be satisfied.
That is where I discovered a hand-tossed pepperoni pizza that you can have anytime as long as you are in Dumaluan Beach Resort in Panglao Island, Bohol.
There restaurant is open as early as 6:00am and closes early morning. Yet, you can order pizza anytime of the day. Their pizza in not ordinary pizza, it was topped with delicious pepperoni slices and full of mozzarella cheese. The crust was very delicious and the crunch and softness is there. This is only possible for if the crust is hand rolled and tossed.
Where to Find
The pizza of Dumaluan Resort is in the island of Panglao, Panglao is the island very near Tagbilaran City. Never miss dropping by in case you go to Bohol. It an island with very fine white sand, very beautiful corals and pristine clear waters. It is an island that offers a wide array of resorts from high end to budget friendly.
That is was I like about Dumaluan, it is not that expensive yet their accommodation is superb. If you feel like going to the pool, it is also available and there food is great. Specially the pizza.

Cebu
Thin is in!!! That is a wonderful experience when I was brought my friend to a pizza bar that specializes on thin crust pizza. What more to experience it than to have their best seller and that is Handuraw’s Special. The crust is almost a thick as a biscuit, but the toppings are generously placed enough that it will drive you crazy specially if you are a cheese fanatic. Handuraw Special is the best!!! It has a generous serving, of bell pepper, mushrooms, tomato, onion, pepperoni, black olives, meat chunks and all were floating on top of lots of loads of mozzarella cheese.
Where to Find
You may find Handuraw at One Mango, General Maxilom or Mango ave., Cebu City. It’s a new place infront of Mango Square. For the pizza lovers, this one should not be missed. It is a wonderful experience to taste such a fantastic pizza. When I asked the staff if they have it here in Manila, he told me that it is available somewhere at Katipunan Ave., QC but a takeout counter only. For those who know where I can find their takeout counter, please e-mail me. I really have to have that pizza experience again. We Filipinos know how to re-invent and make it better. That is evident in this pizza that I can truly say, a Filipino pizza masterpiece.
Pizza anyone? This is one opportunity most of us will grab if given a chance to savor this fantastic Italian Dish. One of the best Italian pizza that I experienced is at Amici. The name of the pizza is Tutta Carne. It is a pizza made of italian sausage, ham and pepperoni. It is complete with the generous serving of mozzarella, tomato sauce. More to that, is is well complemented with their dried chili, salt and pepper. This is something that you will eventually comeback to have it again and again. All of their pizzas are baked using a woodfire stone oven.
This makes the pizza special because it has the aroma and flavor that came form the “pugon†(stone oven).
Where to Find
Amici is located at Tomas Morato, Quezon City. It is very easy to find because is below the famous Ratsy Resto Bar. The service is also fast and the waiting time is short. They are also accommodating in your request and the ambiance is simply clean and light. This is a place that you will enjoy wining and dining the casual way. Not stiffed, but relaxed. Not to mention, that they serve great Italian dishes. When you drop by Tomas Morato, dont forget that there is an Italian Restaurant that serves a very good meatlovers pizza named Tutta Carne. Ciao!!!

Bicol
Before I went to Legaspi City Albay, I was reading about this restaurant in Bicol that was created because the owner has to return home. From there she started the business. With good service and good intentions of returning to her roots, the whirl wind of the business tide carried her and after 10 long years, the Small Talk Cafe became of the know watering hole in Old Albay. I eagerly ask my friend to bring me there because I believe there is something that I will discover. Alas!!! Here it is,”Pizza Bicolana”. It is a thin crust pizza, with lots of mozzarella cheese, mushroom, bell pepper and Laing. Yes my fellow foodies, there is Laing in the pizza. It blended well with spices. It was a truly delightful experience when I tasted this wonderful pizza.

Where to Find
Small Talk Cafe is located at Dona Aurora st., Old Albay. It is near the regional trial court. Its an old house converted in to a restaurant that’s why it retained the nostalgic ambiance. They have different menu to choose from but this pizza caught my attention because goes beyond the norm of pizza making but it carried with it the signature of a true Bicolandia recipe by adding an ingredient Bicol is known for. When you are in Legaspi city, don’t forget to drop by Small Talk Cafe and enjoy the dining experience this warm-hearted place has to offer.
