Lugaw at Nalds

In Naga, when you say lugaw, you will get Nalds as the answer. This restaurant has served lugaw for a long period of time even before when I was assigned at the place in the of mid-90s.  That is also the place we would frequently go to have our evening lugaw food trip.  Their lugaw is simple delicious and we use to partner it with hamburger.  Yes my fellow foodies, lugaw and hamburger is a perfect combination in Nalds.  They also have a generous serving of chicharon as their toppings to their lugaw.

Where to find

Nalds is located at Caceres st. at Centro, Naga City. They also have a branch in Legaspi City. Aside from the Lugaw, Nalds is a place where you can satisfy you gastronomic cravings.

In Naga, friends go out to wine and dine.  That is the same reason why I enjoy going back to that place. Good drinks, great food and fantastic friends. There are great people with an appetite for delicious food and that is my kind of crowd!!! Don’t forget to drop by Nalds specially after your drinking session. Drop by and there will always be a hot food that will soothe your drunkenness. J

Lugaw at Tokwa’t Baboy

Lugaw at Tokwa't Baboy

Here is another lugawan that has a very delicious rice porridge, tofu and pork.  Lugaw has been with us since the beginning of our life as a Filipino because one way or the other, we had our first taste of this when we are still young.  Up to now, I still have the craving of having a bowl of lugaw specially when it is cold. Since it is boiled rice, it is not hard to digest.  There are many great and delicious Lugawan which I posted in my previous entries and here is another which is different for the conventional lugawan but there is also lugawan in food carts.

Where to Find

Lugaw Republic

You can find the delicious lugaw and tokwa’t baboy at Lugaw Republic at 3rd floor Virra Mall, Greehills Shopping Complex, San Juan City.  Kat and I were enticed to have this because of the number of people who are lining up for their orders and people who were eating lugaw ( nanaka- iggit ang kain nila).  It was a good lugaw and surely, we will come back to have it again when we visit the place.

Lugawan sa Narig

Lugaw at Narig st.

There is this lugawan that you might think is just an ordinary house, but when you enter it, you will be surprise because this house serve a very delicious lugaw (rice porridge). Lugaw is almost available everywhere in the Philippines but there are those who serve it best. This is one lugawan that I can say “serves one of the best Lugaw” that I tasted. Their lugaw is composed mostly of beef meat and internal organs. They have a chili that the version is different. There is a taste of coconut oil and chili. The combination of the chili sauce and lugaw is superb.

Lugaw at Kawilihan Bakery

Lugaw with Egg

There are many Lugawans in the Metro and in the provinces that you may say “worth eating”. Now  lugaw (rice porridge) is available even inside the mall and still claim to be the best when it comes to this comfort food. At Project 2, Q.C., there is this lugawan that serves this but they serve it clean, and has very delicious beef viand added to the porridge. For me, I asked for an additional egg to make this more yummy. The name of this lugawan is Kawilihan Bakery. Unusual name for a lugawan. As a matter of fact, it is the bakery that started first. The lugawan came in second but built its reputation as very good.

Where to find

Lugaw of Kawilihan Bakery is located along Anonas st. cor. Chico, Quirino 2-B, Project 2, QC. It is easy to find them because they are located along the main street (Anonas). They are open from morning to night time. If you pass by Anonas street, don’t forget that there is this lugawan that is honest to its superb taste and cleanliness.

Goto – Puso ng Baka

When you are in Cubao Quezon City and you crave for goto or rice porridge, were else can you find this one unique which I though was only available in Malolos Bulacan.  I was quite surprise that there is a restaurant that serve goto with  beef heart instead of the usual pork intestine that is common in almost all “lugawan”.  You can find that in Randy’s Goto & Mami Buto-Buto.  The taste is superb!!!  It is very well complemented by the usual tokwa’t baboy (local tofu with pork).  Condiments are available like the fish sauce, soy, calamansi, and siling labuyo (chili).  Sometimes, they have a prepared chili sauce.  They also serve noodles, lumpiang togue ( spring rolls), tofu, kwekkwek.  Goto with Puso ng Baka is sImply delicious and I bet you, you will come back to satisfy your cravings. Â

 Where to find

The location is along EDSA near the office of Meralco.  The landmark is the old overpass.  It is easy to find because it is at the other side of Baliwag transit.  It is along the lane of Victory liner or Dagupan Bus station. Â
