Manila
It was a fine Sunday afternoon when we fetch my dear mother-in-love este, mother –in-law from the airport. The first thing that came to her mind is to go to a nice restaurant along Manila Bay. When we went around the CCP complex, we were enticed by the location of Dencio’s for it’s accessibility at the baywalk going to the break waters and the view it has of Manila Bay.

Outside Decios
It was almost 2:00pm then and we haven’t eaten our lunch yet. That was the reason why we were in a hurry for our orders. It took us not so long before our orders came out straight from the kitchen. We ordered for sizzlings of different kind and the entourage came out:

Sizzling Bangus Sisig

Sizzling Seafoods
Last of the sizzling that came out was our all time favorite specially when you mention Decio’s; it is their sizzling pork sisig.

Sizzling Pork Sisig
This is the part of the pork that really is so tasty that made is so delicious plus the technique in preparing. You have to grill the pork face and ears before you chop it into small pieces. The mixture of the spices plus the egg made this truly palatable.
Next is my favorite chicken barbeque. I was informed by a friend that Dencio’s chicken barbeque is tasty. It was indeed exactly what he said. It is not only about the tasty marinate of the meat by the tender and right timing of grilling that made this a stunning dish.

Chicken Barbeque
Too much of pork needs also balance. For the next order, we had the pinakbet. This dish is one of my favorite vegetable dish. I can say is that Dencio’s knows how to prepare pinakbet the way Ilocanos do. The vegetables were still crunchy and the sauce mixture was just fishingly great!!!

Pinakbet of Dencios
Another favorite of mine was Liempo. Every time I see this is the menu, it magnetized me to take an order. Their Liempo did not disappointed me. It goes well with the “atchara” or “pickled papaya”.

Liempo
To sum it all, we had sinigang instead. This dish is one of my comfort food ever since my taste gave its preference. Hehe!!! Rapsa talaga ang sinigang.

Sinigang na Baboy
This feast was just about right on a Sunday afternoon. The combination of fine food, good place, and with your love ones truly makes a lunch amazing. We went home with our belly full and full of satisfaction from Dencio’s. I’m glad that they always meet my expectation every time I pay them a visit specially this branch along the beautiful CCP complex of Manila.

Grill Place of Tita Fannies
When it Cagayan De Oro, it is always a time for good food with your good friends. Right after work, I was brought by my friend to dinner. Since they know that I am always looking for an extraordinary experience in eating, they brought me to Tita Fannies for me to taste their famous Liempo de Lechon. Just before we went there, I was already thinking of eating Liempo. When they mentioned Tita Fannies, I did not give any hesitation instead I said, “take me there, right-away!” Tita Fannies is very easy to access since it is just along Corrales st. downtown CDO.

Order Counter
We ordered for 3 dishes. First was the Lechon Liempo, second was Lechon Manok, and third was Kinilaw.

Liempo De Lechon
It took us not that long when our orders started to come in. When I tasted their Liempo de Lechon, the skin was crackling and the meat was so tender. I guess they have a technique in marinating and cooking the liempo. It was indeed very delicious and tasty. It was something to eat and eat again. Ang sarap sobra!!!

Lechon Manok
Second was the lechon Manok. Typical of a lechon from the south, it was tasty as well and the taste of lemon grass enhanced its flavor. It was very flavorsome and was perfect as a main dish and an appetizer. It goes very well with soy, chilies and calamansi.

Kinilaw Boat
Their Kinilaw was also as great with their grilled dishes. It was the right combination. It was very delicious specially with beer.

Inside Tita Fannies
Dining at Tita Fannies does give you an experience of eating great food coupled with a good ambiance. You can also eat with your bear-hands ( for foreign readers, there is a proper ethics in the Philippines society in eating without utensils) or ”kinamot” as what they say in the south. When you are in Cagayan De Oro or Iligan City, visit Tita Fannies. You may also visit their website at http://titafannies.com

Outside Tita Fannies
To Tita Fannies, I will again go back to your place, have the Liempo de Lechon and taste your other delectable dishes. Till we meet again, Tita Fannies. Rapsa kaayo ang imohang Liempo de Lechon ug ang Lechon Manok!!!.

Laguna

Before Good Friday, we went to expore Rizal up to Laguna. Since it has been years that we haven’t been at the place, I was amazed that there are new places along the way such as pools, springs, new resorts, furniture shops, tons of fruits. When we arrived at the Paete, we were not allowed to enter using our car but you can still walk together with the Pilgrims. After the stroll at the churches and woodshop we decided to go to our favorite restaurant.

When we say Paete, there is only one restaurant that comes into my mind and that is Exotic restaurant. Even though they serve exotic meat, I never had the chance to taste one such as frogs, snakes and the like since my wife and kids will not like me for eating it. So, the best for me when it comes to this resto is their Inihaw na Liempo or Grilled Bacon Slab. The serving is quite small but the taste is wonderful.

Of course, it will not be complete with Sinigang na Baboy and Fried chicken for the kids. It was a wonderful meal after the zigzag drive along Mabitac, Laguna. It just took us an hour from our place in Antipolo to reach it.

When you go to this part of Laguna, try passing by Exotic restaurant. They also have wood carving souvenirs from Paete and other native delicacies from the nearby towns. It is a wonderful place to relax and have a hearty meal.

So, when you go to this part of Laguna, never take this away from your itinerary that you have to pass by Exotic Restaurant to taste not only their exotic food but also their Inihaw na Liempo.

Iloilo

Liempo at Ramboys

I was informed by my friends in Iloilo that there is this one grill house that gives one of the best liempo. Ever since, this restaurant has always lingered in my mind that I have to taste of what they are say “pinaka-namit at pinaka-saboroso gid”. It is the Liempo at Ramboys. Upon seeing the liempo, I was surprised that the skin was like chicharon (pork crackling).

Yummy Liempo

Feast at Ramboys
Where to Find

My Ilonggo Friends
Ramboy originated in Antique but for this, we had it at Benigno Aquino Ave., Mandurriao, Iloilo City. It was so delicious that some of my officemates brought it back to Manila. But we have to be very cautious in eating at Ramboys. It is very delicious and eating liempo ( bacon slab) might trigger your cholesterol level specially if you have a history of highblood.

My Ilonggo FriendsMy Ilonggo Friends Again
This is one reason why I love going back to Iloilo. This place is full of great things. From the friends that I have to the culinary treat that awaits me. It is really a one gastronomic adventure. Rapsa sa Ramboys. This is highly recommended.

Ramboys Lechon Manok & Liempo
They have a technique in the way they grill that it was like fried and no sign of burn. When I tasted it, I would say napaka-rapsa neto. The skin was so crispy. It is really like eating chicharon and it does not have the rubber-band effect. The flavor was consistent up to the bone.

Taytay

Lechon Liempo
I have been hypnotized by this part of the pork that is liempo bacon slab). This has always been my favorite. We never run out of stock in our house. There is this store in Taytay that serves liempo in a different way. It is call Lechon Liempo of Chic-Boy. Their liempo is grilled similar to lechon Manok but they have marinated it and stuffed it with tanglad (lemon grass). Once you taste this, it will make you come back. Very delicious!!! It reminds me of eating lechon in the Visayas where you can eat the lechon without the sauce. Their style is different because the skin is almost like chicharon (cracking pork skin) and their sauce is a concoction of vinegar and chili. Different from the lechon manok store around that will give you sweet live sauce.

Chic-Boy at Taytay
Where to find
Chic-boy is run by another famous restaurant in the metropolis. If you want to know who that famous restaurant is, you may find them along Ortigas Extension at barangay San Isidro, Taytay Rizal. It is near Tropical Hut and Singer Factory. if you want to post your order ahead, you may call Edrey at 0920-7541995 or at their office at 02-6584412. You may also taste thier lechon manok which is also very good.
Lechon Liempo of Chic-boy will surely be a hit for everyone. Lami ang Liempo diri bai!!!
