Molo Soup of JD Bakery Cafe @ Iloilo Airport

View at Iloilo Airport
Waiting for your plane departure at Iloilo going to Manila is not boring. It is because at Iloilo Airport, you can taste a very good Molo soup at JD Bakery Café. I discovered this when I rushed to Sta. Barbara airport just to make sure I will not be late for my fight back to Manila. The molo soup was served steamingly hot. The garlic and leeks made it tastier and the dumplings of the soup, was a total pleasure to my taste palette.

Inside Iloilo Airport

Upon arriving at the airport, I roamed around to have a food to eat. I haven’t eaten my breakfast and this gave me the drive to look for a resto that will satisfy my hunger. My hunger brought me to JD bakery Café that is located inside the waiting area of the airport. To my surprise, JD bakery Café is not like the other restaurants inside the waiting area in Manila where the prices are really soaring very high. It is very friendly to you budget. Even the cakes, you may buy it as low as 12 pesos.

Inside JD Bakery Cafe
I tried some of the food to partner with my “hot and garlicy” molo soup. The chicken curry is also good. My friend tried their beef teriyaki. According to him, It was also delicious. My molo soup and chicken curry is just less than a hundred pesos.

Another Angle Inside JD Bakery Cafe
I even saw some of the pilot who went down to this shop to buy cakes and pastries to which they will bring it to Manila as their pasalubong. That is the reason why waiting for your plane at Iloilo airport is worth the wait because of JD Bakery Café.

Chicken Inasal at Chicken Deli
Here is something that I long to post about my chicken topics. It is one chicken house that I always go to everytime I am in Bacolod City and it is Chicken Deli. When I am in Bacolod, ordering for a single piece of chicken is not enough. Usually, we order chicken parts and grill them all together. Why? Maybe that is the trend or maybe I am just want to experience what Bacolod has to offer when it comes to this gastronomic delight. Chicken Deli is there during my first time in Bacolod way back 2004. The reason why we go back is the taste. They grill very well and the price is about right to your pocket. Of course, it will not be complete if you will not use the famous vinegar “Sinamak” that the place is famous for.

Amargoso Salad
During my last visit, they made their inasal even special with the introduction of their amargoso (bitter melon) salad. It is not that bitter and it blended very well with their inasal. It was indeed an enjoyable and nostalgic chicken experience.
Where to Find

- Chicken Inasal
You cannot say that you have been to Bacolod if you haven’t experience eating at Manukan country. It is a place near SM Bacolod that is full of restaurants service Chicken Inasal. You can have different parts from chicken legs (pa-a), chicken breast (pitcho), chicken tail (isol) , chicken wings (pakpak) and many other chicken parts that are edible. You can also choose if you want the commercial chicken or the native one. Both are great but the native chicken is much tastier.

Rice with Chicken Oil
What is the signature of Bacolod chicken? They have a chicken oil that you partner with your rice. You can also add it to your prepared concoction of calamansi, soy and sili as you supplemental condiment.

After eating, the best way to end your dinner is to have talaba(oysters) with beer. Yes my fellow foodies, that experience in eating chicken is what I like at Manukan Country. I would like to acknowledge Nicole’s Chicken Inasal for this wonderful chicken inasal, tasty talaba and a couple of ice cold beer.

Manukan Country
If you are planning to go to Bacolod, always put this in your itinerary to go to Manukan Country and experience what eating inasal is all about.
Every time I go to Maasin , Southern Leyte, I always pass to this place that serves a very good chicken inasal. It is one of the food houses that serve one of the best chicken inasal that I have tasted. The way they marinated the chicken and their roasting technique resulted to a very delectable chicken barbeque. Every bite is really a total satisfaction.
For this we had it with Puso ( hanging rice) to make my food trip even great.
This is one place that you can relax and eat above a running water coming from a spring.
The way you can clean your hands is trough their batalan ( water basin).
Where to Find
Chicken Inasal of Kiosko can be found along the national highway going at Matalum, Southern Leyte. It is the highway going to Maasin. It is a known resto at the place because of their unique setting and very good chicken barbeque. Everytime I go to Kiosko, they never failed my appetite for good food and superior customer service. Kudos to Kiosko!!!

- Garlic Chicken
In General Santos, aside from Tuna, Chicken is one the all time favorite at the place. You can find it at every barbeque houses and restaurants. I was brought by my friend Edwin Tagalog to try a different chicken experience at Chicken Hauz. It a humble restaurant but you will notice that people come and go for take-out. The specialty of the house is their Garlic Chicken. It was one of the best garlic chicken that I tasted. Even the sauce was so flavorsome. As a matter of fact, it was so delicious that I ordered again for eat out. It was perfect with their fried rice. No wonder, if you say you want to eat chicken at Gensan, they will bring you to the place. Not to mention that the price is very affordable.

Davao
There has been a phenomenon when it comes to chicken that the native chicken has been more inviting to us Filipinos. Why, because it is tastier, and the native chicken is far from chemical feeds. That is the reason this priced fowl has always delighted the Filipino taste buds.
In my visit to Davao, I was lead to this fantastic Chicken house that specializes in Inihaw na Native na Manok (charcoal grilled Native Chicken). There Native Na Manok is very scrumptious!!! As a matter of fact, I started up with my spoon and fork and I did not notice that I was already eating with my bare hands.
My wonderful food trip experience was even more aggravated because they also serve a very good and hot puso’ (hanging rice). In all of my experience when it comes to barbeques and hanging rice, it was my fist time to eat a hot puso’. It was a perfect combination that truly made my day complete.
Where to Find
Conching’s Native Chicken can be found at Araullo st. barangay Obrero, Davao City. When I was invited to drop by Conching’s by Edwin Biliran a couple of months ago through his comment in one of my blog entry, I made it a point that I will really drop by to experience what Conching’s has to offer. A promise is a promise.

It was a very pleasant experience. Even the staffs were very polite and accommodating. Not to mention, there were known personalities who already visited the place. This is a resto that I will firmly recommend to my friends here in Davao as well as to my friends who will visit the place. Thank you to Conching’s for my wonderful food experience and for their Inihaw na Native na Manok that added to my food tripping and personal craving. Lami kayo Bai ang Native na Manok!!!

Every time we travel to Leyte province, there has never been an instance that we did not pass by Baybay to have a very delicious chicken barbeque. That particular location in Baybay Leyte has been there for the time that I had a project at the area during the 90’s. The only difference now is that it was improved. Before, it was situated at the port going to the boat. Now, they have made a special place where visitors and dinners would converge in a particular strip. But what made this strip very much inviting is their chicken barbeque. They have perfected the marinating process and their way of grilling it. The result was a very delectable chicken barbeque with a different kind of blend to the usual chicken Inasal in the metro. It was this famous J & E restaurant that we always go to. They also serve a delicious clear soup (hototai) perfect with their chicken barbeque while enjoying the sea breeze.
Where to Find
J & E Restaurant is located at Pantalan, Baybay Leyte. It is easy to find them since it is the restaurant with the widest view of the beach and infront of the light house. In fairness to the other restaurants, they also serve great chicken barbeque. Some of my friends prefer others but for me, I am still loyal to J&E. When passing by Baybay Leyte, this is a must for the hungry travel. It will not only give you a delicious chicken barbeque but it will also give you a very relaxing view and feel of the sea breeze that will bring you to its spell.
As soon as I arrived at Tacloban airport, Leyte, We immediately traveled to Samar to visit one of our office at Catbalogan. I was surprised that the roads were very nice unlike before. It was a wonderful ride and we had our stop at the famous Angelina’s Eatery at Calbiga, Western Samar. This restaurant is famous for their Tinolang Native na Manok. They have been in the business of over 30 years serving travelers that passes by Calbiga as well as to the local eaters. Their Tinolang Manok was very tasty and they will service you with their own harvest of rice. They use a strong herb similar to pandan but much aromatic and flavorsome. The ambiance is literally homey. The restaurant is really serving food inside their home. That makes their native na Tinolang Manok authentically, lutong bahay.
Where to Find
Angelina’s Eatery is located at Calbiga, Western Samar. It is along the national highway. It is very easy to find because they are the original who started Tinolang Native na Manok at Calbiga. Just ask where it is located and you will be directed to their restaurant. This is one opportunity not to miss once you pass by the humble town of Calbiga. Angelina’s Tinolang Native na Manok is a perfect for the exhausted distant traveler’s. A chicken soup for the soul(and body).
