Palawan

During my stay in Palawan, I always started my day with a hefty breakfast at Tanglaw. This is necessary to fuel up for a along and adventuresome day in the place.

What I like during my stay there is the sumptuous variety of food in the buffet table. It ranges from American, European and Filipino favorites. Vegetable salad is also available for the diet conscious. They also have a local delicacy and some Filipino favorites such as puto’t cutchinta. Another factor is there ambiance and superb service. No wonder people were taking there breakfast luxuriously and graciously.

If you want to make your leftover of Lechon (suckling roast pig) more delicious, you may turn it into Lechon Paksiw. Not all Lechon paksiw are leftover from the Lechon. Sometimes, you have to convert it to paksiw simple because it is easier to handle most specially when you are going to feast on a deserted Island. That is my Lechon Paksiw experience in the Pandan Island, Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The Lechon Paksiw courtesy of Legend Hotel was one of the mouthwatering Lechon Paksiw that I tasted. Its not only the taste of the food, but the enjoyment of eating it was doubled by the beautiful view and fresh sea breeze at Pandan Island.

Pandan Island is located at Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The jump of point going to this paradise is through Honda Bay. The marine life is very rich here since it is a fish sanctuary and breeding ground. Feasting in this secluded island is really one opportunity not to be missed. Everything was cooked and prepared the way Legend Hotel Palawan prepares for their guest. What I can say is,” The best ang Lechon Paksiw nila.”

Palawan is really full of surprises. Aside from there vast and beautiful natural resources, the place also cradles on of the best Hopia Ube that I tasted.
It is the hopia of Baker’s Hill. It was a place on a hill where their bakeshop is located.
Even though it is far from the main road, this place is regularly flocked by tourist as well as people from the area.
Aside from that, they also have a fastfood that you can enjoy your meal after a long travel.
The prices are very affordable. You can go a long way with your 100 pesos.
It is a nice place to go and it will surely be an attraction you anyone’s child.
They have created a theme park and even the houses of the owners, blended to their wonderful place. They also have an aviary where you can see exotic birds.

Seafood Kebabs
Palawan is not complete if you are not going to soak yourself to its pristine clear water and walk to its white sand beaches. We had our lunch at Pandan Island. It is an exclusive island of Legend Hotel Palawan. It was a real paradise to stay and relax at the place specially when you are served with seafood kebabs. This seafood kebab was the creation of Legend Hotel Palawan. It was a mixture of shrimp and squid. It was a true seafood food trip perfect with a bottle of ice cold beer under the scourging heat of the summer sun.

Lunch Buffet
Right after the travel at the subterranean river, we went straight to Sabang Bay to have our Lunch buffet.

Puerto Princesa Subterranean River

Towering Column going to the Subterranean River
This was the way going to the underground river. I was stunned by the magnificent natural watch tower.

Bay at the subterranean River
This wall of rocks secures the bay where the underground river is located. By the way, the underground river is the Philippines’ entry to the seven natural wonders of the world.

Going inside the Undergroud River
After the underground adventure, It was a wonderful experience to eat beside the beach.

Buffet
For this lunch, they served grilled fish, grilled pork, kamote tops, cucumber, Chicken Pork Adobo, grilled squid, mechado and many more that I cannot recall. In this kind of place, it is always better to partner your food craving with the freshest coconut juice straight from the tree.

Chinese Crispy Empanada
As soon as I arrived in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, I immediately took the chance to roam around and see what Puerto Princesa looks like. Along Rizal street, it was a busy business center that has a touch of what Palawan is. First, it’s very clean. People in the area know how to throw their trash in the right place. Second, the native shops are all around that is uniquely Palawan. Third, Puerto is also a place of good food. One of my discovery was the Chinese Crispy Empanada of Mike Chai Bakery. At first, I was skeptical to taste since I saw this in bus terminals in Metro Manila and when I tried it, it did not gave me the hit to blog. But this Chinese Crispy Empanada does brought its promise as a delicious, crispy and wonderful empanada. It was so popular at the area that people just come and go. I tasted their pork curry flavor and it was one of the best empanada experience that I had.

Then I concluded, it was a worth walking along the streets of Puerto for you will discover delicious food in this very warm and clean place in the Philippines.
